GENERAL INFORMATION
Nangal
Chaudhary is an important village and block of District Mahendragarh at
Narnaul. During the Mughal rule, Narnaul was a flourishing town. Nawab Shah
Quli Khan, a Governer of Akbar, erected many splendid buildings at Narnaul, got
dug large tanks, laid out many beautiful gardens and built a fine
mausoleum for himself.
Presently,
Nangal Chaudhary is one of district block head quarter situated in southern
part of the district and touches districts of Alwar, Sikar and Jaipur of
Rajasthan state. The upland tract unit covers the area between northern Narnaul
and Nangal Chaudhary Hills in the Narnaul Tehsil. A desert
upland,situated between 284 and 302 meters above the mean sea level belongs to
the Aravali System. Nangal Chaudhary hills in Narnaul tehsil near Haryana
-Rajasthan boundry are one of the many geographical features of Independent hill ranges in
Mahendragarh in Narnaul Tehsils. East of the Kasaunti or Krishnawati river stream,
the elevation of 626 metres and relative relief of 160 metres is found near
Mukandpura village. North-west and south of Narnaul town, rounded hillocks and
elliptical hills are prominent features of the landscape in the sandy terrain
between the Dohan and Kasaunti streams. The elevation of the conical hillock
near Thans village is the highest, 652 metres.
The people
of The district celebrates major
festivals with same enthusiasm as in other parts of Haryana. The most
significant festivals are Diwali, Dussehra, Ram Naumi,Holi,Teej, Janam Ashtami,
Shivaratri, Sankrat and Raksha Bandhan. Some festival are celebrated only by
women and these are Karva Chauth, Nirjala Ekadshi and Hoee. Three festivals,
viz Teej, Gugga Naumi and Dulhandi cary wider local significance in the
district.
Gugga Naumi is
a religious festival connected with snake worship observed on Bhadra 9
(August). To commemorate Gugga Naumi,fairs are held at Gugga shrines. People who
do not go to his shrine, pour lassi and sevian (cooked
vermicelli) in holes that might contain snakes. The important Gugga fairs are
held at Bawal (Bawal Tahsil), Asadpur, Bikaner, Dharuhera, Darauli, Suruora,
Jatusana, Rohria, Turkiawas (Rewari Tahsil), Nautana, Bawana, Kuksi, Kanina,
Patherwa, Bawania, Maupura (Mahendragarh Tahsil), Hudiana, Kauwi, Nangal
Chaudhry, Ateli and Narnaul (Narnaul Tahsil). Wrestling championships are organized
by the village folk at North India level. Apart from traditional entertainment
programmes, People entertain themselves
by raagnis, nehre, dhammal and swang. People of this region relish Rabari and
Lassi as main food item along with Bajra roti and butter.
In the
vicinity of the village limestone is found in the riverbed of krishnawati river and village
dostpur There are mines of various
ores. In village Gulawala, quartz ( Phelsphar)
is found in hills. In
neighbouring village Aantri Biharipur some other rare stones are found.
This area is
having some famous personalities viz. Ved Devki Nandan is education minister in
PEPSU state. Shri B.P. Arya is an IAS officers who is currently working as
Transport Commissioner in Rajasthan Government. Mr Bodhraj is District Excise
and Taxation Commissioner in Haryana. Shri Poosa Ram Ex MLA ( Member of Legislative
Assembly ) and his son Chaudhary Moola Ram is present MLA of Narnaul
Constituency. Mr Shivram Singh Suman got Medal in old age Olympics held in Hong
Kong. Acharya Ram Dev ji is famous for his Aurvedic medicines and he is
presently running Divya Pharmacy at Haridwar in Uttar akhand.
